Machine Tools industry has been witnessing an unprecedented growth. It’s a USD 65 billion industry globally and around USD 650 million in India. What sets India apart is the rate of growth which is pegged at a staggering 40% as against the world’s 23%.

India ranks 19th in production and 16th in consumption of machine tools. While exports have been on rise; imports too have seen phenomenal growth. In just a short span since 2004-05 to 2006-07, the imports have grown from INR 18,000 million to INR 28,000 million. With more and more multi nationals setting up their production units in India, the sector is all set to witness an exponential growth.
